yeah no issue with Krauhaus coming on, lots of energy. When we went another goal down Forster came on for Fisher again no argument against that but losing 2-1 and losing 3-1 or 4-1 doesn't make too much difference as we still come away with 0pts so why not through Alexander on, maybe for Besart Topalloj? and push Corey out wide? Then you've got a runner in behind cheek causing a nuisance for the last 10/15mins.
Excellent article Mash, putting the questionable refereeing decisions to one side, what was impressive, particularly in the first half, was how we weren’t afraid to take the game to them and not just sit back and try and hit them on the break.
It feels much more solid with 4 at the back, allowing our wide men to be able to get forward more. Having said that there’s still a lot of flexibility in the formation, I’m sure at one point I saw Omar marauding into the right hand side of the penalty area!
Will be interesting to see who we can bring in, if at all, this month.
If we’re serious about the play offs this season then this will be vital to our progression
Thanks Mash. Another good read. The You Tube video is the first I've seen of the game, and I find your comments on the penalty award against Cheek very interesting.
As a well-lapsed former referee I can still recall being taught by the Kent County FA referees trainer to not shy away from penalising a player ducking his head if he was putting himself in danger. A fine judgement indeed. Was there contact? Having re-watched the video, I'm still not sure. I don't see the player's head jerk, he has no treatment on the pitch, but the camera shot is not close enough to see if he is marked in anyway. Did he milk it? Sadly, referees tend to bias unfairly toward attackers and their neutrality is not helped by famous former forwards in high-profile media positions with their demands.
I note with interest the player "fouled" was Tunnicliffe. That name rings a bell from a plethora of recent match reports in which penalties and free-kicks were awarded. Suspicious???????
agree with pretty much all of this but I think a question that keeps being missed from all supporters is what is happening with George Alexander? only 2 subs used and the recognised striker was left on the bench despite us chasing the game. Since he scored an overhead kick I can recall him playing twice maybe? Last season AW talked so highly of him and played him for most of the season, so what's happened?
A very valid argument. If you bought on George on Tuesday who would you have taken off.
I am assuming Louis had a knock because I dont know why else he came off. The option of Krauhaus was interesting was that because they felt he could do more defensively?
Thanks Mash. Agree with a lot of that. Very unlucky and on a difficult pitch to play on. What was particularly impressive was that we kept playing at 1-1 and believed we could win which we weren't doing for example against Notts County earlier in the season. AW has said he wants us to play more on the front foot. I am not too worried if we keep playing like that-results will come. Let's hope we can produce an equally positive performance against Yeovil, a team we usually struggle against and this time get a bit more luck.!
Yes Yeovil on Saturday will be very interesting. We rarely get points against them in the National League and with a new gaffer and new signings could be a big problem.
Will be interesting to see how we set up back to a flat back 4? and Harry back in the side?

100% agree....Hopefully the team can build on the recent performances with a strong one vs Yeovil

Hi Pete. Thanks for this - I meant to write that I would be keen to hear from current or former referees.
I still remain baffled that the commentators kept referring to it as a high foot. What else was Cheek supposed to do? Watch the ball drop?

We did have the one moment of joy with the greatest own goal ever at their place to give us all 3 points, but 3 points against Yeovil is rare
Oh shit yeah. I completely forgot the covid season.
