Harrison Dunk; remember him? Has done stalwart service since moving from Hayes Lane to Cambridge United. Me thinks his experience at League One level would make him a great squad addition. More importantly, though, I await your views on the midfield where I think our future next season will be won or lost. The two lads we had on loan from Brum and Preston last year were a cut above anything we have there right now and a couple of quality new boys at least (if we can afford them) will be crucial.
Hi Machel Yes agree with a lot that’s been said. For me it would be Kamarl ahead of Alex as he makes those dangerous forward runs, not sure whether we can get him but it does give us a better chance as a League 2 club. AW always liked Omar and there must be a chance there also although I would agree there may be alternatives available with players out of contract. Should we be paying a lot of money to buy players out of contracts? The Centre Back positions are strong though especially when Deji is fully fit.
great write-up as always, thank you. Would be good to get Alex Kirk back, he certainly got better as the season went on, spoken to his family a few times and they said he felt at home at Hayes Lane which could bode well. Chesterfield released Laurence Maguire, while he is on loan at Crawley Town, so that might be a good option depending if we can offer him enough.
Another thought provoking quality article Mash, cheers.
For me there’s some givens at CB. Reynolds stays and plays, Deji stays and plays (assuming fitness) and Webster stays and plays as much as possible. I say givens because L2 will be more robust, physical so we’ll need a blend of experience with the legs of youth. I’d add Kirk if we could, he’s got so much potential and also Sowunmi if possible. This 5 plus Odutayo and Topalloj give us speed, quality, experience and a balance to deal with all set ups or tactics Woody wants to employ.
Be a good chance of a deal with Millwall, remember they played their U21 games at Hayes Lane for a while on a Monday afternoon.Neil Harris moved them away as he didnt fancy the 3g.
They have permission for a new training ground at West Kingsdown but thats not ready and Calmont rd isnt good.Harris and Dunne played a long time together,be suprised if we dont get one of their lads now we have league football and a grass pitch, assuming we’re playing at HL off course !
I don't disagree with any of this, especially, perhaps your eulogy on Reynolds, who goes about his business so quietly and well that I don't always notice him. On Byron, his leadership skills are considerable, and we lacked them when he was out of the team, picking up when he came back. But he's a bright bloke and will have sussed out his options. He's been a wandering minstrel all his career and, as far as I know, doesn't have Bromley ties, but if he wants to combine captaincy and maybe not always doing 90 minutes with doing his badges (say), we should definitely make him an offer.
My only thought about bringing old boys back is that it's easy for fans like me to say "yes, absolutely" - especially thinking about Omar's Exocet headers from corners - but the question I'd ask is whether they are the best available options. Familiarity with the Club always helps, but the effect is temporary and we should always go for the best, not for sentiment: after all, they didn't stop Sutton going down, if they're contracted they may be pricey and there may be some interesting releases from bigger clubs as yet unknown.
On a related point, I think I read somewhere that Bromley's scouting network is thin to non-existent. If so, it shouldn't be, and an investment there may be at least as valuable as bringing in a player.

My only thought re: Omar is understanding the system and how we play.
Kizzi was also part of the same Sutton team that finished top 10 in season 1 and got to the Papa Johns final.
