Thanks Machel. It’s always difficult with strikers. Probably the most important area of the pitch and they are judged by how many goals they score. Arguably we have enough strikers already to justify not going into the transfer market but if we struggle to score goals in the early part of the season there will be strong calls of why didn’t we splash the cash?
I have no doubt Cheeky will rise to the challenge. Hopefully Andy will show faith in Will Davies- watching him before the games he is an excellent finisher and 1 goal could set him off. Louis and Fela deserve a chance and Amantchi has huge potential. Now Marriott has gone will AW bring in one more striker?
It may be hard for us to score goals this season so above all else it’s the service that’s provided to the strikers which is crucial. To my mind apart from Lewis Leigh we have had nobody since Frankie Raymond who have delivered consistently at set plays.
Again there’s a couple of no brainers here, Cheek and Fella, both signed up and both deserve a shot at Div 2. For me I’d keep Sir Les of Dennis, he’s played at this level, knows what it takes and could help the squad plus he still has that little bit of magic that’s often needed. Levi, I simply can’t comment as I don’t think we’ve seen him yet but I sincerely hope he’s up to it 🤞🏼. This leads to an obvious conclusion, we need someone else, either a younger rough diamond plucked from Woody’s extensive non league network or an experienced hand at Div 2 level. The one thing I do think is that we’ll need pace up front, Fella has it, but we’ll need more! Again, in Woody we trust 👍🏼
A long shot for sure, but I've been wondering if Andy might try and woo Connor Wickham, who was just released by Charlton after a short-term contract. They probably share some Palace connections, and Connor has roots in the area. Maybe a 6-month contract to see if it's a good fit? Powerful striker sadly sandbagged by injury. League Two might not be his target, but Bromley could offer a bit of stability after a lot of chopping and changing in recent years.
Agree with all of that. Levi is the big unknown, honestly I see him as the impact sub, the big guy who comes on a disrupts, as Bent did to us in the cup vs Solihull. He looks a real machine, he will do it in L2 no question.
