I don’t think people should under estimate one key component of football - luck. People can say luck doesn’t exist but being in the national league I think we may have to accept the officiating isn’t going to be that of the premier league. Dare I say a big decision goes against us in the semis, yes we can blame the referee or whoever but luck can change the swing of a game very quickly. You just have to look at the Torquay Heartlpool play off final. Luck or extremely poor officiating ?

Thanks Machel. There was a noticeable improvement in the Barnet game and was hopeful we could carry this forward in the Solihull game which we did. As I said a few weeks ago a lot depended on Charles showing his true ability and once again you have to give credit to AW and the team for finding a true talent.

The team look good and the formation is working. It wasn’t for me the results but the way we were off the pace recently but we seem to have found our mojo which we certainly need for tough games against Altrincham and Barnet (my predictions) if results go our way in the playoffs.

What’s happened to Bes though? Is he moving away in the summer? If not at the moment it looks like he is being pushed towards that.

A typically judicious write-up, Mash. 'Keeping receipts' and mental map-making could be construed as somewhat aggressive (fans are allowed to hold contrary opinions) but I take your point... Not all fans are sports writers, nor do they have a public platform and a degree of privileged access. As such, they are under no obligation not to massively overstate their disappointment/exuberance after a defeat/victory. You hold yourself to a very high, long-sighted critical standard - which I admire - but which most people simply do not feel the need to replicate.

It is a curious feature of non-league life that criticism, particularly online criticism, is regarded as disloyalty, or worse, as personal attacks. Stating that Bromley's form is 2024 was poor may well be foolish and wrong - but it's not evidence of a moral failure, nor part of a wider conspiracy against the club. (You didn't say it was, I know.)

Interestingly, the village mentality is something which might fall away if epochal progress *is* made, partly because administrators/insiders will have much bigger fish to fry. And then, of course, paleo-conservatives like myself will be wishing keenly for the days when I (and my awkward tribe) were publicly dragged for doubting the tactical acumen of Goldberg, say.

Just for the record: I have never doubted AW, and was a vocal fan of his predecessors. I think my opposition to the new culture, however, not to mention the ownership, is now a matter of public record.

Anyway - some coffees impending, old chap, as your reports are always extremely good.
