This is the first season in a while where we will probably lose more than we win. The expectations of some are way too high, but equally AW was foolish to talk about play offs.
One or two players were off the boil on Saturday, but Notts are a very good side who will challenge for promotion.
Webster made point about setting bar high so if you have a good go & miss out it's not so bad as saying we want to come 3rd from bottom. Maybe should have kept that in house though .
This was a good read, as a Notts fan I think you’ll be fine this season, if we can keep our squad healthy (which we didn’t last season) we will challenge for the playoffs (atleast) so losing to us shouldn’t be any indication that you’ll struggle
I thought Crowley was the conductor, he seemed to be at the centre of everything. I mind the previous week at Colchester they had an attacking midfielder (Payne?) who played a similar role to good effect. Fairs fair though, as I said on the looooong walk home (wasn’t really long, just felt like it!) we were simply beaten by the better team, who must surely be League One in waiting. You and others are quite correct in saying we are going to have to get used to a few more of those, something I hadn’t really given much thought to until Saturday if I’m being honest! Anyway in Andy we trust, I’m quite sure he is working on Project Clean Sheet as we speak. BTW slightly off topic but quick mention about the Lassies, really enjoyable game and was well worth a return trip to Hayes Lane on Sunday.
Jones, Crowley and McGoldrick were the difference for me. Have all played at a higher level and it showed. We couldn't match them in the 2nd half - no shame in admitting that - we move on!
They were very good & will score a lot of goals so many threats , Maynard has good record v Bromley going back to his Wealdstone days , always enjoyable watch fair play to County for taking a punt on him . I still think we will avoid a relegation battle .
Thought we were outclassed almost from the moment the second goal went in. Jones in particular causing havoc down Bromley's left.
My only minor criticism during the game was whether or not our shape was conducive to stop Notts in wide areas. Yes, we sprung 2 early traps and scored, and yes Jones is clearly levels above, but it looked to me like no-one was sure who was responsible for helping Idris.
Is it Corey's job to shuttle across? Or does he track the overlapping full back? Is it on one of the 6s to move over? Or do you let the overlap go and have Reynolds deal with him?
Despite all that, I thought Idris did pretty well, and he certainly won't be the only left-back to get worked over by Jones this season.
Good point about the resposibility, I was wondering the same thing all the way through the match. It may even have contributed to why County suddenly looked like they had a man spare all the time in the 2nd half

Bromley will be fine.

Yes we were outclassed at times but could have done much better with set piece deliveries from hard one free kicks and corners.
I have noticed this in previous games as well.
Yeah, I agree. In the second half in particular we had a few very dangerous set-pieces that we didn't make the most of.
That said, County were much better than us.

Best of luck for the rest of the season

I defo want to do a feature on the ladies team. They are deserving of far more focus.

Can’t watch most of these matches, but listen and try to follow. Thankful for you writing.
Wise words, Mach.

Remember Callum going over to Jones & got tied in knots , such a talented lad.
