On season tickets - I didn't go last Saturday I was abroad on a summer holiday. Club needs to implement a resell scheme for season ticket holders for situations like this.

I guess it speaks volumes about the fitness of our squad, that players who have come in on loan from higher level’s can’t play at the intensity we require for 90mins.

We have been spoilt in recent seasons & for some losing two in a row has sent shock waves through them , they thought Crewe would be a bad team ( clearly they are not ) & we would roll them over . Whilst some fans don't care as long as two teams are below us come seasons end . I was disappointed with us in possession & with the way we conceded the goals to a Crewe team that wasn't the biggest.

With regards to the missing 500 3 of my mates were at Soul Town, two were playing a Lawn bowls tournament and four were on holiday, but I agree something needs to be done, even against Wimbledon there was loads of space in the North Terrace.

Your write up dovetails perfectly with my brief assessment which I put on my Facebook page on Saturday evening.

Each to their own, but in my coaching career I only ever made a sub when it was my teams kick, never when defending one. I think it’s potentially disruptive.

The Learning Curve continues !

The second Crewe goal came from a free kick that Crewe should not have got.

The Crewe player slipped and in falling handled the ball which should have resulted in a Bromley free kick which could have created a goal scoring opportunity or at least would have run down the clock.

Instead the free kick was inexplicably given to Crewe, I guess because the ref who was some way behind the play thought that the Crewe player had been pushed rather than his having slipped which was clearly evident from behind the goal.

From this free kick which they punted down the pitch Crewe scored their winner 20 seconds later.

Yep. It’s all a progressive lesson … Bromley has a good chance of being in the top 8 all season if they learn from less than full performances like this against very experienced EFL teams like Crewe and Bradford - adjust to speed and pressure of League 2.

Then consistency!

I think that comment about the fan is extremely unfair and in all rather inconsiderate. The fan that had the ‘funny turn’ was a good friend a companion of a number of people in the north terrace and especially within the group near the incident. At the specific moment in time the incident looked very worrying. So I think it should be the least of your worries that someone hurdled the barrier to spread awareness about the situation, especially when considering what has happened in previous years in similar situations, the action was most definitely necessary.

Yes I know the fan who fell ill very well.

I wont write a full response here as Im sure you can read it elsewhere to other peoples responses.

The key thing everyone is overlooking here in saying how necessary it was is what it more highlights about stewarding or lack thereof.

The action shouldn't have needed to be taken - whether you view it to be the right action or not.

Usually a fan of these but appalled to read this one. I assume you were not present in the North terrace to see the medical emergency and the young man in need of urgent help. No response from stewards for at least a minute. In this sort of situation seconds can make the difference. What the F*ck else do you expect the fans to do to get some attention. Awful awful take afraid, please be more considerate

Read what I said again. I said I wasnt in the terrace - but more importantly from my position I could see stewards to the right of the situation.

A precedent was set at Harrogate thats actually what this was about imho.

I’m sorry but jumping over a railing while not even being on the pitch to warn the referee about something that looked a very serious incident isn’t going to give the club a bad reputation at all. A club official did the same at Harrogate and there was no bad word there ? Thankfully the fan is now okay but at the time it looked very concerning

I dont think the club official should have done it either

Still thinks it’s harsh to judge a situation that can be very fight or flight. On both occasions fans have tried help a medical emergency and I think the fans welfare comes first. In these situations you never know what you’re up against and every minute counts. You only have to look at the past few years in football where other events like this have ended up being much more unfortunate

Don't disagree with that take - it very much was fight or flight but it was also a learning experience for all involved.

I was not at the game due to being on holiday, so will not comment on the match. I have known the young man who had the incident almost from the first day he walked into the club with his dad, I would have jumped over the barrier and blown the refs whistle if it meant him getting the attention he needed, a game of football is just that ‘a game’ but I understand where you are coming from.

However my concern is quite straightforward, apart from a couple of professional stewards, Bill at the tunnel for instance, you cannot give someone a Saturday job and a HiVis and expect them to become a steward without the necessary training apart from “check his ticket”. If there is a real problem regarding crowd safety you shudder to think of the consequences if the very easy task of getting first aid to an incident is beyond their level of experience.

I agree with this and thats why the whole incident poses greater questions about safety in general.

This was or should be an instructive learning moment for all

Like it or not Bromley FC are in the events industry, which was where I spent my entire business career. You had to cover every eventuality with the mantra ‘it’s not a problem until it’s a problem’. The club really need to understand this.

Another great read but another one I have to disagree with, not sure if you’re watching the cricket in the background or paying full attention. We’ve got players that are so poor technically that we can’t actually keep the ball. All we want to do is hoof hoof hoof, so how are the midfield expected to keep hold of possesion? This one baffles me. To mention aswell your right in what your saying Leigh was the best on the pitch as so he has been with every single rating according to sofa score and ratings don’t lie and the fans seem to agree except yourself, he’s the only one capable of getting the ball and looking for a decent forward pass. Can I ask what did Arthurs do and congreave? The bad needs to focus on those aswell as the stiff defence that there attacker ran rings round, this put us on the back foot and we couldn’t cope with it. Time for a few changes I think as this lineup is stale because we beat relegation side Harrogate that was so poor.

Very harsh comment over the incident involving not one but two fans that had a medical episode during the match. I’m sure if it was you or someone you know you would want someone to stop the game. Whether it’s by jumping over the barriers (not even on the pitch) or not! The fact the stewards didn’t want to react to anything for at least a whole minute makes it even more necessary!

Very poor take on this unfortunately.

You are entitled to that view and I hear it, but for clarity.

The first fan was attended to and had about 10 people surrounding him - while that was going on the second incident happened.

The stewards were to the right of that incident - however the option taken was to hop the barrier.

When stewards responded (which we can question the response time) from my vantage point said fan had not realised that had happened and was being remonstrated with to come back over the barrier.

There is a lesson here for everyone at the club.

Expand full comment

The person who jumped over was not only trying to stop the play but trying to even get the other medical team from the clubs there quickly. Like they did with Keith, as Hus was also eyeing up the situation.

Expand full comment

I hear that but where is the line then?

Anytime someone falls ill - jump the fence? It sounds obtuse but I am being serious.

As fans do we now self steward and ignore the ones in the ground.

It's a delicate situation but I am not sure jump over the barriers is the first choice.

But as Zac said fight or flight.
