Agree most of what you say but there has been a number of issues in Webster,s performance and I cannot agree a 6. He has given away unnecessary free kicks resulting in goals in recent games and his distribution has been poor .

I think Webster is now on the ducking stool for some - so anything other than perfection means he will be the first to get called out/noticed.

I gave him six because he made countless interceptions when balls came into the box. These are the little things I dont think people notice.

yes but he is clearly bing targetted by other managers and his distribution was bad at last game

Well it depends on whether we can get an ' all action midfield player' assuming we can and he can get at least a week training with the squad I would put him in with Bingham if fit. Not sure it will be Vennings type of game. I might even put in Forster for Kendall and play 1 up front and Sowunmi ahead of Reynolds for me. I am not sure you can fit Bergkamp in unless he plays ahead of Forster then you lose width. Changes have to be made we are stalling at the moment. If things don't come off you can change things up at Half-Time. Sounds simple being a virtual Football Manager😆 but at least let's hope we give it a go!

Thanks Machel. Well if Baron reads this I think he has done really well this season. He does lack pace but we should have players to cover for him and for a big man he hasn't got a bad touch. To the game the first half was very poor from Bromley and I was thinking just before they scored it will take them to score to wake us up.!

The problem is then you are playing against a packed defence which is difficult. I was glad to hear Andy is trying to get someone in we desperately need someone with bite to play alongside Vennings or Bingham. Kendall was disappointing for me but you do have to give him a few games to settle in and as noted service to him was poor. What was disappointing as Maidenhead for me were nowhere near as good as Dagenham but we showed no real belief and we couldn't keep the ball. Like you saw maybe Bergkamp should start and maybe Forster also. At least he has a go his final product and shooting need to improve but I still have faith. Defensively I thought we looked ok. Maybe there is too much of a defensive mind set. TBH we are not going to go down so we may as well go for the 3 points if we lose we lose draws won't get us in the play-offs.

I quite enjoyed the game, probably says more about me than the football but once you accept where we are it locks into place,i’m largely over my angry phase and just enjoy whatevers on offer.

6/7th place are up for grabs with the ‘also rans’ and tbh if we get one of them we will need to put in 3x Wembley performances and then probably beat Notts County, thats going to be a stretch.

I was up the car park end the entire game and it seemed, first half, mostly Maidenhead scuffing the ground with their poor crosses and Webster constantly to the rescue, you deal with what comes at you.

Websters a big bloke and got bullied fare and square for their goal.

Louis scuffs a daisy cutter and the keeper should have got it.

One gets MoM the other is in the Naughty corner while the search goes on for a NL Centre Half with pace !

Thats football for you

It's hard to get off ground if someone is pulling your shirt down , I only noticed it on tv highlights but heard someone talking about it on way out of ground

Every time I see the pace argument I just sigh.

The strikers that skin Webster will be skinning CBs all season.

I think a greater aspect people miss with defending is that it's not the sole job of the back five.

If you defend poorly as a side people will more often than not look for one scapegoat to blame it on.

Webster is now on some Bromley fans naughty step, good luck getting off it.

Thats what I see Mash,Trotter and Alexander got the ‘treatment’ its just so poor that a small number of fans decide they don’t like a player and that spreads.

Websters different he reads the forum and fb I’ve spoken to him and he knows !

He is one of our most consistent players , generally wins his battles & is a proper captain. I do wonder what people are watching at times .

Editor’s Footnote (ICYMI)

What a snooze-fest! (The game, not Machel’s review).

Flat atmosphere, flat football, and a flat cap on Devonshire’s head. We’ve seen it all before; Bromley just can’t seem to outwit the West Ham legend’s strong-armed sides. Fair play to them. They worked hard to frustrate the Ravens, forcing sideways passes and hit-and-hope balls, and they calmly went about the dark arts.

Speaking of, and forgive the whiff of sour grapes, but during the corner that led to Maidenhead’s goal, Byron Webster was having his shirt so violently pulled that I could see it from the other end of the pitch. The referee and his assistant couldn’t have missed it but chose to ignore it. 1-0.

Byron was rightly furious at the injustice and he wasn’t going down quietly. The referee had an earful of northern soul for minutes afterwards, earning Byron a yellow card to add to Bromley’s growing collection. I’ve never seen Webster lose his cool like that, he doesn’t seem the type. I think that tells you everything.

On a different matter entirely, Bergkamp’s worth a start, isn’t he?
