Bromley are flirting with the drop zone due to their own failings. This can go one of two ways, but even surviving they need to learn to avoiding being relegation fodder next season.
Dom Sadi is exactly the sort of player we're missing none of current midfield crop are playing 90 mins at level required (or even staying on the pitch) .
Other teams make multiple impact subs, AW either can't or won't change approach.
Only benefit of cup run would be £££s in coffers otherwise just a big distraction.
Much the way I saw it. Carlisle posed plenty of problems by finding the pockets between our midfield and defence in the first half. I have to assume Woody changed things up at HT to mitigate that and I think it largely worked.
We all know how tenuous a 1-0 lead is and the red card gave Carlisle renewed hope. Could Bromley have held out otherwise ? I think yes, they could have because the tendency is to play deeper when a man short . No complaints with that red card - could be a case of a sub trying a little too hard to impress and losing a bit of discipline in the process.
I think what we ( or maybe just me ) are starting to see is that the squad lacks quality. Not too many - if any - game changing options on the bench. Whiteley was missed on Saturday, without him Cheek is becoming something of a one man band up top - Dennis doesn't seem to be able to impact a game at the moment. And I think if we subscribe to that view re the squad then it explains Woodys reluctance to make too many substitutions.
Finally, that free kick at the end....I'd love to have been a fly on the dressing room wall after that...what were they thinking ??!!
Good piece as ever , I find it strange some blame manager for red cards , its not like he can control what tackles they make or decisions , we have to be competitive as not a pretty footballing side . Saw some chat pre Rochdale that Corey shouldn't be starting I think sat proved beyond doubt how vital he is .Hope we can nick a win soon , really need a home won for confidence Gills would feel like a Big one .
Interesting point about strength in depth. We have the numbers to field two entirely different teams from the Charlton game to Saturday even with injuries, but are they good enough?
For once I am not the villain of the piece this time; apart from Sam Long I was quite impressed with the ‘reserves’ at Charlton last Tuesday and I was not too disappointed with the Bromley lads’ performances yday - more the inexplicable decisions off it. Those AW chooses to start are doing their best even tho two or three of them (the totally ineffectual Dennis in particular) are not up to it in this league. And mystery continues over why a Welsh international striker doesn’t appear to be good enough for Bromley, why Congreve always seems to be subbed after 65/70 mins, and why the manager insists on tactics that by pass his midfielders. Finally, has anyone any idea why Bromley were again the only club in League Two who failed to publish Saturday’s match attendance in the two national Sunday papers I bought yday, even tho they claimed beforehand that the match was a sellout. You can’t blame folk for wondering what they have to hide!!!!
With 15/20 mins on the clock Byron was screaming at his team to wake up, the crowd were looking on in a stunned silence, the season that started so good is now on the point of collapse. Make no mistake, we are in dirty and deep and this season, unless drastic decisions are made, it will be panic stations come Feb/March.
Yesterday we were woeful, both the football and the team management, with a midfield player sent off surely you quickly sub one of the two forwards and put Reynolds, a defender on…but nothing.
We don’t win second ball, our midfield is non existent, my only enjoyment yesterday was once again Jude Arthurs giving everything, everywhere for his club. There were other good performances but as a collective it’s just not working.
I’m not being negative here, I’m disappointed that we are not living up to our capabilities.
Fans can be praised to the hilt for travelling in support up and down the country and maxing out Hayes Lane, that support will start to dwindle very soon if there is not an obvious turnaround.
Well, the quality of depth gets worse with every injury and red card. When I see prior to the game non playing players walk past the Forini stand and I struggle to remember when they last played or indeed who they are, you have to assume that we do not have quality in depth. To be honest Mash, the Carlisle game has confused me, I’m just not sure what the answers are, probably a sports psychologist should be the next club appointment, and if they have one already, he should work a bit harder.
Great write up as usual.
I thought Kadeem Harris was superb for them.
The draw seemed inevitable from the moment we took the lead and consciously or unconsciously sat back.
For me Carlisle would have scored even if we had kept eleven on the pitch.
We will stay in League Two, but it’s not going to be easy on the eye or the nerves.

Very well written, insightful analysis once again.

I enjoyed the trip & performance on Tuesday more than Saturdays
Similar but one ended without defeat.

Do we the quality in depth to do any better?
