Chalk it off as a ‘bad day at the office’ but it’s put a bit more pressure on us for the next 2 games now. In normal circumstances I’d be expecting us to win both those games but we’re clearly blowing hot and cold at the moment and the loss of Deji is disappointing.
Dorking will be determined to prove their gaffer wrong after the Barnet drubbing so I’d take a point there and a home win on Monday against a Woking side who’ve found form of late, so that’s by no means a given.
Ideally we’d go into the tough finish to the season with 3 out of the 4 last games against promotion rivals with 3rd place secured but that’s looking unlikely. It could all end up going to the wire. I’m hoping King Louis will step up and show his class on the home straight of our journey to the promised land!!
Now come on, Machel, I really am going to take issue with you here. Louis Dennis is, I’m afraid, a liability who never wins a 50/50 ball, and who has contributed little since his return on a free. I am gobsmacked that in all the years you have been watching Bromley you consider him the most ‘technically gifted’ player the club has had. What about Gareth McCleary, messrs Krauhaus and Fisher, and the two lads we had on loan from Birmingham and Preston; all literally in a truly different league to LD, as Portsmouth and Leyton Orient quickly realised. I know the boy is something of a cult figure at Hayes Lane because of what he achieved at a rather lower level. But take it from one who has also watched lots of football at a higher level we really do need to be looking for more ‘gifted’ players if EFL ambitions are to be realised. AW is no fool who is slowly trying to build a squad with more quality, and I would put money on LD not being the only current first teamer who will be absent from the manager’s retained list at the end of the season. Sorry to be so brutal, but I want our Ravens to be high flyers, not also rans.
He has contributed little since his return? I strongly suggest you go and look back at the stats of our season run in last season - his partnership with Cheek fired us into the playoffs.
The lower levels you are talking about is the same league we are in now when Louis got his 22 goals that fired us to Wembley and then into the EFL (personally).
As for if this is his last season - quite possibly it will be, he is 31 after all. However I question your definition of technically gifted. It may be we are operating on a different metric.
Technically gifted doesnt mean who has played at a higher level - people who know ball will tell you that Louis does things they can only dream of (Lewis Leigh is the only one I've seen come close).
"so it wasn’t as if they were completely crap" - this line has just made me giggle snort.
It wasn't the greatest game, in fact, I didn't think Bromley were there at most parts. Onwards and upwards!
Perspective and truth. Good traits to have re: in football, writing and LIFE.
But... With great ability comes great Accountability!

Its always sad to see a fans favourite fade.
AW puts Louis on the bench for a reason.
The magic has all but gone.Your deluded if you think different.
Hope that Louis fires us to the promised land, off course we do !
Will Smudge sign him for Cray next season, maybe he’ll think about it thats where he is.
His level is Cray????
Have some respect.
Jack Holland,Georgie Porter,Frankie Raymond,Sam Wood etc
Get to a point were you play for the game.
Thats respect rather than sit on a bench taking a wage.
At some point you’ll need to remove those rose tinted glasses.
Louis had his chance at the big time and his head couldnt handle his talent.
Whats he done this season ?
Jack Holland, George Porter and Frankie Raymond all played Conference South before pitching up at Cray. You know this right?
Have you spoken to Louis about his time in the EFL or are you just deciding what happened to him?
Re: this season - he hasnt been vintage no - he has 5 goals in 15 starts (rest subs) - do I expect him to move on after this season, yes.
I know people at Portsmouth who ‘worked’ with him so yes,I know why he messed up there.
