The physio.
Every team has one but not every fan really understands the role they play.
At the most basic level fans know they attend to injuries on and off the pitch but in truth for the vast majority of us that is where our knowledge begins and ends.
The gaffer or the 11 players on the pitch may take plaudits on any given Saturday but for that to happen several unseen heroes on the backroom staff have an integral role to play.
With that in mind I ventured down to Hayes Lane to have to sit down with Bromley’s head of injury management, Hus Turgut.
What started out as a 10 minute conversation turned into a one hour deep dive on all things injury management.
Amongst other things we covered
Why the term physio isnt a one size fits all concept
Injury prevention and rehabilitation
Managing the fine line between management, players and injury recovery
How to get into the world of physiotherapy and football
Workload management
and so much more…
It’s an fascinating conversation that helps give you a greater level of appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes vis-a-vis player injury management.
