All change at From Bromley with Love
From Bromley with Love has existed on Substack since July 2022 bringing the best independent, in depth analysis on all things Bromley FC.
The last two years have witnessed history at the football club in the form of promotion to the EFL and with that has come even more eyes on ‘little ol’ Bromley’.
On a personal level that has seen me recognise the need to expand operations at From Bromley with Love and bring more content, more regularly and in a better format.
Since the end of the 2024/25 season I have been in discussion with CounterPress to move across to their platform. It believes in quality first local sports journalism for local communities and perfectly fits the ethos of what From Bromley with Love is all about.
You can read the press release below to find out more and register interest ahead of the official launch date on 1st July.
From Bromley With Love arrives on CounterPress with a mission to bring exceptional Bromley FC coverage to the fan community.
CounterPress is delighted to announce that Machel Hewitt is moving his up-and-coming outlet to our network.

Bromley fans, listen up. There’s a new place for definitive coverage of your club.
As the Ravens continue their remarkable climb up the football pyramid, so the demand for intelligent and insightful reporting increases.
For that, look no further than From Bromley With Love, the latest addition to the CounterPress family after its summer transfer from Substack.
FBWL – edited by Machel Hewitt - provides in-depth and independent writing on all aspects of the club, from its rose-tinted past to its gold-plated present. Like Bromley outgrew the benches end, FBWL has outgrown Substack, and it’s time to build something bigger and so much better.
The new CounterPress site will launch on July 1st, but supporters can register their interest from June 16th to June 30th.
Register within that two-week window and you’ll receive vouchers for either 40% off a monthly membership for three months, or 25% off an annual subscription for the first year.
Ahead of the launch, Machel said:
"From Bromley with Love was created as an independent media outlet to accurately report on all things Bromley FC. In the absence of hard-hitting, creative and analytic news covering Bromley’s meteoric rise, From Bromley with Love has filled the void.
“Covering Bromley over the last two seasons, including their historic promotion to the EFL and inaugural season in League Two, has put From Bromley with Love in a place where it’s ready to step up to the next level. CounterPress, new and exciting itself, is the best platform to do that with. It embodies the ethos of independent journalism and stays true to the notion of in-depth regional sports coverage. Made by journalists for journalists, CounterPress understand why insightful, community-focused writing is so important in an age of mindless clickbait.”
About CounterPress
From Bromley With Love is the second outlet to sign up with CounterPress.
Changing the game for sports journalism in the UK and beyond, CounterPress helps reporters to create, curate, and promote their media brand by providing the technology and human resources required to develop and run an elite outlet at an affordable cost.
The business recently received a significant injection of funds following a round of angel investment and is in conversation with dozens of potential outlets across several sports.
Co-founder Sam Morshead said:
“Machel has a real passion for Bromley FC, and that comes through in his reporting on the club.
“He shares the CounterPress vision for the future of regional sports media, and I’m so pleased he has chosen to work with us to deliver an excellent product to Bromley fans.”
CounterPress provides functionality that allows users to create and illustrate editorial, manage audiences, review analytics, send e-marketing campaigns, deliver commercial partnerships, and control finances and subscriptions.
It also offers outlet owners the opportunity to earn beyond their market share via an upgrade subscription that allows readers to access coverage of every journalist on the network. That revenue is centrally pooled and redistributed.
Unlike other digital publishing solutions in the same space, the CounterPress team is made up of experienced journalists, brand designers, and developers, who are on hand to assist owners with the creation and delivery of their outlet and brand.
The company is built around a core value of community, and we aim to revitalise sports reporting, particularly regional reporting, in the months and years to come.
The Moonraker, providing independent coverage of Swindon Town FC, launched on CounterPress last August as the company’s flagship concept site.
Run part-time by one reporter, The Moonraker has maintained a paying membership of more than 500 at all times since late August and is on course to generate just under £30,000 in gross revenue in its first year. This compares to an industry average for a regional UK staff journalist of £32,000 (as of 2023).
Getting ready to upgrade your platform? Get in touch with the CounterPress team. We’ll be happy to show you what we can do for you (that no one else can).
